§ 9.72.070. Selling liquor near schools prohibited.

  • It is unlawful to sell or offer, or to expose for sale or gift, fermented malt beverages, or any malt, vinous, or spirituous liquors within a distance of 500 feet from any private, public, or parochial school, such distance to be computed by direct measurement from the nearest property lines. Provided, however, that this prohibition shall not affect the rights of any person, firm, or corporation holding a lawful permit or license to conduct such business within the restricted area established by this section prior to the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter; nor shall this prohibition prevent the renewal, upon the expiration thereof, of any license in effect at the time of the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter authorizing such business within the restricted area established by this section.
